Through the Eyes of a Child

During a medical mission project in Honduras, missionary Randy Bardwell asked me to stay behind to examine some students with special needs. In that little school, I set up the principal’s office to examine the young girl’s eyes. Karin had been born with cataracts that blurred her vision and her mother had finally saved enough money for the surgery to remove them. As I began the exam and looked into Karin’s eyes, my heart sank - the crude surgery had left membranes that were virtually impossible to see through. When I explained the situation to Randy, he said, “Michael, what hope can we give the girl?”

As Assemblies of God appointed missionaries, we will focus our efforts on the needs of thousands of children through Latin America ChildCare
(LACC).

Latin America ChildCare (LACC)

Since 1987, we have worked with Vision Care International Ministries, Inc. (VCI), a para-church ministry which was founded to fight blinding eye conditions and to develop methods of providing affordable eye care to those in need. VCI has partnered with HealthCare Ministries and with Assemblies of God missionaries on over 50 projects in 35 different countries.

It's about the Children...

With LACC, we will be working in Central America on the following projects;
• Develop a primary eye care program, providing regular eye exams and eyeglasses for the LACC students;
• Develop a community health evangelism program to reach communities with the good news of Jesus Christ;
• Host outreach teams for health care and construction projects, and;

• Develop a vocational training program to help LACC graduates integrate into their communities with a solid, Christian work ethic.
